Power supply and electromotive force
Devices that convert other forms of energy into electrical energy are called power sources, such as: batteries convert chemical energy into electrical energy; Photocells convert solar energy into electrical energy; The generator converts mechanical energy into electrical energy and so on. The positive potential of the power supply is high and the negative potential is low. After the load is connected, the current in the circuit outside the power supply flows from the high potential to the low potential; In the power supply, the current flows from the negative to the positive.
In the power supply, when the external force of the authority constantly moves the positive charge from low potential to high potential, the external force must do work against the electric field force, which is the process of the power supply converting other forms of energy into electrical energy. To measure the ability of different power sources to convert energy, we introduce the physical quantity of electromotive force (EMF). It is defined as: in the power supply, the external force moves the positive charge from the low potential (negative plate) to the high potential, and the work done by the external force (the electrical energy increased by the power supply). Expressed asE=(see Fig. 1-1-3)Where, w is the work done by the power source to move the positive charge, the unit is joule, and the symbol is J;server rack network rack Network cabinet wall mounted cabinet Open Racks Frame rack accessories rack tray blank panel spacer
Q - The amount of electric charge moved by the power source, unit: coulomb, symbol: C;
E -- power supply electromotive force, unit: volt, symbol: V.
In the internal circuit of the power supply, the external force moves the positive charge to form a current, and the current direction is from the negative pole to the positive pole; In the circuit outside the power supply, the electric field force moves the positive charge to form a current, and the current direction is from the positive to the negative.
It should be pointed out that electromotive force and voltage are two physical quantities with different physical meanings. Electromotive force, which exists in the power supply, is a physical quantity to measure the power of external force; Voltage, which exists inside and outside the power supply, is a physical quantity to measure the power of electric field force.
